Why Do I Do So Many Things?

Why Do I Do So Many Things?

One of the things I’ve heard a lot over my life from different people is – why do you do so many things? What’s interesting about that question to me is that it has never been a question I’ve asked myself, but only one that others have obviously wondered.

Over the course of my life, the varying experiences I’ve had as a singer, model, working in the financial world, being a reporter, real estate broker, lawyer, having varying businesses and now working on television just seems to have been a lot for many of the onwatchers to see.

I was raised by parents who believe in exposing their children to all that is possible in the world. That included exposure to as many opportunities as possible. And what was always instilled in me was the knowing that anything I decided to do and was willing to work for I could achieve.

I have been blessed in always knowing that my gifts and talents were varied. Some people are gifted in just one or two areas and others are gifted in many. For me, I knew I fell into the latter group. I believe you don’t allow people to put a period in your life where God has put a comma. That is a principal I have always lived by.

I believe in living life intuitively and going where I am led. No one knows what’s better for me and my life than I do. Fortunately for me, I’ve never been swayed or concerned with the opinions of others regarding what I’m suppose to be doing in my life or where I’m suppose to focus my time and energies. I just stay committed to my life’s purpose, my work and where I am being led to go. A life lived from this perspective is a far simpler one.

When you start to consume yourself with what others think about what you do and how you do it, you are leading yourself down a never ending rabbit hole. When you are concerned and consumed with others’ thoughts about you and opinions of how you should live your life, you lose focus on how to actually live your life for your highest good in the manner that is most desired and fulfilling for you.

When you focus solely on your desires, your goals, ambitions and are willing to do the necessary work to get you there, things begin to move on your behalf. Opportunities are revealed to you and your world begins to shift and change. Dreams begin to manifest. I am not suggesting that all of this happens overnight. But what I am suggesting is that if you are willing to do the work to get yourself there, you can begin to make anything happen.

The Power of Being Good To Your Inner Self

The Power of Being Good To Your Inner Self

We are often our harshest critics. We judge ourselves based on the things we do, the things we don’t do and all the things we still have yet to do.

And although it’s a great skill to self evaluate, if you don’t do it in the most loving way, instead of building yourself up, you’ll be part of tearing your spirit down.

Dr. Maya Angelou said, “when you know better, you do better.”

Instead of beating yourself over the head and absorbing a ton of negative energy in the process – how about taking some time to first thank yourself for what you have accomplished, evaluate where you are, look at where you want to go and identify the gaps in between.

We all have areas of our lives we want to improve. We all have goals and ambitions we want to achieve. But hold yourself to them in the most caring way. Do not become one of the naysayers for your own life. Your desires and wishes cannot survive in that space. They cannot thrive in that space. They cannot even live in that space.

Being good to your inner self doesn’t mean that you are not a realist about where you are or where you may be at any given time. But what it does is identify the issues and looks at the holes and gaps necessary to be filled to get you to your desired end.

It is not going to happen overnight. To get to any destination, you must first take the necessary steps to get you there. You have to create a plan and execute it daily to make sure you’re on your way to your goal mark.

Get the support you need from wherever you need to get it to fill in the gaps to move your life forward, but do it in a loving way.

Because being good to your inner self shows others what you expect from them in the level of goodness they give to you.

The Gift of Failure

The Gift of Failure

Failure is among one of the most undesirable occurrences in people’s lives.

When people have what the world considers a failure, it will often paralyze them. It can keep them from moving forward and reaching their goals. It is a death killer to dreams.

But what I’ve learned from so called failure, is that there isn’t such a thing as failure at all. If you take the lessons from what has occurred, you will learn that those lessons were mandatory, even essential to get you where you needed to go.

The world calls it a failure. I call it a fantastic opportunity to succeed, because you got another necessary piece to the puzzle for what is required.

When I think about all of the things I would not be doing today, if I allowed so called failures to stop me, I could weep. I could weep, because it would have been such a disruption to my life’s plan.

All of those alleged failures were part of God’s plan for me. If I had given up long ago, I would have self-sabotaged my own divine destiny.

I often think about all of those who have somehow sabotaged or delayed their own life’s blessings, because they believed they somehow failed and they allowed it to stop them.

You cannot allow failure to block you, nor stop you. You have to simply adjust, course correct and continue moving ahead.

The best course in life to succeed is to abandon daily what is no longer working for you. Try out a new way of being, a new way of doing and see what results are produced.

You want to fail yourself forward and do it often, because every time you do it and there’s an alleged failure, you have the necessary information you need to go even further than you did the last time.

And before you know it, if you keep pressing forward, you will ultimately, undoubtedly cross your ultimate finish line.
