My Travel Series: 24 Hours in Asheville – Part 1

My Travel Series: 24 Hours in Asheville – Part 1

I am kicking off my 24-Hour Travel Series. It’s wonderful to be able to go on vacation for a week or two, but sometimes due to time or finances, that just can’t happen. Over the last several years, I have experienced and learned about the power of just going away for 24 to 48 hours. And how magical such an experience could be.

Typically, when I think of a vacation, I think of being away for five or more days where I don’t have to work, check email and/or take phone calls. Although those types of trips can be fabulous, sometimes they are just not doable for a variety of reasons.

So, I’ve learned how to break away and experience the gift of a new place and new environment in a short amount of time. Over the next several months, I will be doing some travel features on just spending 24-48 hours maximum in a featured city.

Asheville, North Carolina is my first stop for the series. I literally spent 24 hours there and it felt like it was a few days. I heard about the beauty and uniqueness of Asheville for years, but never made it a destination for me. I’ve driven past it on my way to Tennessee, but never had the time to stop there until now.

I am a lover of the mountains so it was a wonderful city for me to explore. I have been looking forward to seeing all of what Asheville had to offer, but since my flight was delayed for nearly 2 days, and I only had a few days available for the trip, I was forced to make the best out of my 24 hours there.

Although I didn’t have time to tour their biggest attraction – the Biltmore Estate (I will come back for that) – I did experience some fabulous finds in this unique city.
