The Greatest Pivot of My Life

The Greatest Pivot of My Life

It was over a decade ago, during the Great Depression, I was in the midst of a collapsing economy and the fall of the real estate market.

I know what it feels like to be in the midst of a crashing economy all around you. That is what I experienced then a decade ago when the world of real estate was collapsing.

Instead of collapsing with it, I decided to do the only thing that would change everything and allow me to alter my current and future life. I decided to focus on and take control of the only things that I could control at the time. I decided to pivot.

I pivoted into a lane that I knew wasn’t just for that moment. It was bigger than that. It was the future. A lane that was just in its infancy at the time. A lane that could reach every corner of this great big world.

I immersed myself studying for years before coming up for air to learn all of the areas necessary to allow me to grow and grow fast. It was as if I was back in law school again. I looked up and I had built the foundation of what now allows me to live a life where I can call two continents on opposite sides of the world home. A world where I have clients all over the globe. A world where I can run my business working less than 10 hours a week. A world where I can run it from absolutely anywhere on earth. A world where I reach millions of people through our platforms which include a nationally syndicated television show in America.

And now in the midst of another economic disruption in the global economy, I am one of the very blessed few whose business has not been negatively impacted by this new world of quarantine and social distancing. Instead a decade later, I am in the forefront of an industry that is in the midst of its greatest growth in history.

The lane is online. The commodity is digital assets.

The time is now. If you’ve ever thought your life was supposed to be far greater than the one you currently created or if you’ve been in business, but know there’s so much more for you, decide this will be the moment in history where you made a pivot, took a silver lining and used it to change everything in your life and turned it into something almost unrecognizable.

Let me show you how.

The Power of the Pivot In Both Business & In Life

The Power of the Pivot In Both Business & In Life

It is two months after the initial quarantine across much of the US and I am still hearing from business owners who are waiting on the sidelines to see when it will be time for them to restart their businesses. Although according to the medical experts, it can be at the earliest 12-18 months before there is any normalcy found as it relates to the need to no longer social distance.

If we are fortunate enough globally to have a vaccine, the earliest it could be delivered to the masses in America is estimated at least 12 to 18 months from now. So what is a business owner of a company to do who has completely dried up financially during this corona season?

There is only one thing to do and that is to pivot. What do you mean by that you ask? You must now select another way to create revenue in your current business until this season is over. This does not mean that you will never be able to go back to your primary revenue streams of the past. What it does mean is that you are not going to wait until that moment comes again to start bringing in income. Because right now, we have a new, semi-permanent normal to contend with.

Even during regular times, when things were “normal,” companies were forced to pivot and re-create themselves. The ones that didn’t soon passed away.

Examples of these are Toys “R” Us®, Blockbusters®, Sears® and the list goes on. Why is pivoting, reinventing and adjusting required? Because life is ever-changing. Businesses are ever-changing. Your customer is ever-changing. The world and society are ever-changing. And if you do not change with them, you will soon have nothing to change at all. Because before you know it, your business will be done.

This is not unlike our regular lives. Our lives are constantly changing. We are constantly evolving. And when we do, we have to change the things that are no longer working for us and find the new things that produce the results and breeds the new elements we want to call forth in our lives.

monique-manigault-business-strategist

Business is the same. We have to find new ways to attract potential clients and customers. We have to find new problems to solve. We have to evolve with technology, society and time. And if we don’t, we will be left on the sidelines while evolution passes us by.

How the Spirit of the People of Hawaii Brought Me to Tears

How the Spirit of the People of Hawaii Brought Me to Tears

From my very first trip to Hawaii over two decades ago, I felt the People of Hawaii were among the most amazing, beautiful group of humans I had ever encountered. Today, all these years later, I feel exactly the same.

I thought I was going to Hawaii on the final days of 2019 to share with these extraordinary people all about the ability to grow their businesses at top speed in 2020. Well… shame on me, the real sharing and learning flowed in the opposite direction and I was the one who received abundantly.

Before I even started speaking, just hearing the heart-filled introductions and stories of this unique group of entrepreneurs had tears welling up in my eyes. The spirit of these triumphant people began to speak to me the moment I was within their energy field, long before their words ever could.

It is always so interesting to hear the stories we’ve never learned. The stories that were never taught and the stories that are yet to be learned.

From the first time I came to these islands over two decades ago, I knew there was something special here. There was something different from other places I had visited. The spirit of the People of Hawaii is nearly palpable.

After the event, while talking to Kaue, a Hawaiian father who used the pain of losing his son to help support others in healing during difficult times and grief, I learned about some of the greatest challenges the People of Hawaii face at this time. Oddly, similar to the story of African-Americans on the mainland, many Hawaiians struggle with challenges from drug abuse to finding their wholeness in a land that is no longer their own.

I will be covering many of their stories this year. From the telescope controversy where Hawaiians physically blocked the road to prevent the building of the world telescope on their sacred Mauna Kea mountain top to the stories of those who are fighting to keep the history and culture of the native Hawaiian alive.

I look forward to giving a voice to many here. And lending my voice to those who are standing firm in the last designation of what they know and claim to be their own.

I am excited and grateful to spend time with my Hawaiian brothers and sisters in 2020 on their native land. And to bring life to some of the most uncommon stories of the extraordinary people on the islands of Hawaii.

Are Full Time and Part Time Entrepreneurs Created Equal? I Think Not.

Are Full Time and Part Time Entrepreneurs Created Equal? I Think Not.

All entrepreneurs are not equal. They are not all the same. I was recently thinking about entrepreneurs versus non entrepreneurs. How entrepreneurs think differently, behave differently, dream differently, grind differently. And while I was thinking about that another question crossed my mind.

Are all entrepreneurs the same? Specifically, I thought of the difference between full-time entrepreneurs versus entrepreneurs with a day gig? Are they equal or are they innately different?

monique-manigault-entrepreneurship

I think they are very different. Both types of entrepreneurs can understand particular experiences. They both understand how to see something other than what currently exists. They understand that by doing something different, you can create something that never existed before that is self sustaining. But what is uniquely different is that the part time entrepreneur will never know or understand the level of the grind and the impact of it if they always remain part-time.

I often say that some of my best, most successful clients are those that lost their jobs. And the reason they are more successful is because they have a different kind of grind. Especially the ones that take care of their families. There is no back up plan. They have to make it work. Their lives and their family’s lives depend on it. And when that occurs, a new something deep down on the inside comes to life in a different way that a part-time entrepreneur really can’t understand at the same level.

monique-manigault-entrepreneurship

Before you’ll start posting, I’m not suggesting that one is better than the other. They are both entrepreneurs. Both with the opportunity to do and create amazing things, but that full-time, only time, all consumed and absorbed 24/7 entrepreneur is a different type of beast. And until that part-time entrepreneur, becomes a full-time, all-time entrepreneur, they will never really understand the depths of what it truly means to be an all consumed, all in and at risk, full blazing entrepreneur.

The Top 5 Reasons Why Fear Can Block You From Your Greatest Dreams In Business and In Life – Part 1

The Top 5 Reasons Why Fear Can Block You From Your Greatest Dreams In Business and In Life – Part 1

Where you want to go in your business or life is not about something external. It is solely about who and what you have to become to get there. I believe your greatest successes in life can be found on the other side of your greatest fears.

1. It Can Be Paralyzing

Fear is a great equalizer. It can stop some of the most amazing people from living their greatest lives. Fear can transform otherwise very successful people into accepting a reduced version of themselves, solely based on fear.

What have you allowed fear to block you from doing in your life? And are you currently taking the necessary steps to overcome it?

One of the toughest issues in dealing with fear is the paralyzing effect it can often have on those it possesses. This great paralyzer will thwart your efforts, wants and actions – causing you to deny and seize all desires to move forward.

2. You Are Unwilling to Confront It

Have you ever wondered what makes some people conquer their biggest fears but not others?

We all have experienced fear in some area of our lives. Some a bit more than others, but we all know the human experience of fear and what it brings with it. Some people face fear head on, while others bury their heads in the sand and won’t face it at all.

What we know for sure is that if you are unwilling to confront it, fear will overtake you and you will never overcome it.

The world is filled with countless people who wish they would have the courage to face and overcome the fear that controls so much of their lives. But that requires them to take the first steps to acknowledge and face it. A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step.

3. The Presence of Arrogance

Arrogance can often be found as an element of fear. How does it show up you may ask? It can show up as a defensive mechanism to hide the fact that fear is even present.

It has been said that a smart man knows when to ask for help. But when you are consumed with arrogance, asking for help is not something you are remotely interested in doing. Instead of being consumed with what you think people may think about you, stay focused on what can be manifested in your life if you simply ask for the help that you need to overcome the fear that is blocking you from moving forward.

Continue to Part 2 here.

What Does It All Really Mean?

What Does It All Really Mean?

People will do almost anything for money. That refers to monumental things as well as minute things. The question for today is what do you value and what exactly are you willing to sacrifice for it?

I was recently talking to a friend who is an executive at a startup. She shared with me how overwhelmed she’s been and her inability to balance being the mother she wants to be with being the executive she’s forced to be.

She talked about not having enough time with her children and the 24/7 requirements of her position. She said her toddler recently said to her, “Mom, I love when we go on vacation, because you actually talk to me.”

monique-manigault

I asked her what that meant to her and what she was going to do about it. She said that her children don’t care about having a nanny. They want the time from her and her husband. I said that children don’t care about all the stuff that we have. They’d rather have less stuff and more time with her. She said although they don’t care about the stuff, she really wanted to be an executive in her career.

What did it really mean when she started the conversation with all that really matters are the people in our lives? Because now when the opportunity is revealed, making the “people’s” decision appears difficult.

If your children feel you can’t even talk to them regularly, perhaps it’s time for the million dollar house to go and a more affordable house is purchased for the sanctity of your children’s rearing, your own peace of mind and your life.

We often are the creators of the overwhelming burdens we face in our lives.

monique-manigault

Imagine if we did something different. Imagine if we just focused on what truly mattered and nothing else, instead of focusing on what we thought mattered. What an amazing, rewarding life we could all create for ourselves.
