What an amazing night was had by all that attended the Night of Hope for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital hosted at the Community Baptist Church of Englewood in Englewood NJ.
It was a wonderful expression of music during this Christmas season all to benefit the amazing work of St. Jude.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has changed the way the world treats childhood cancer and other deadly diseases. It is also where no families ever receive a medical bill, charges for housing, food or transportation. Their belief is that all of the family’s thoughts, energy and efforts should be towards the healing of their child not on monies to pay for anything. What a tremendous gift, particularly at this time where so many Americans are fighting to just be able to have minimal medical care. And somehow, with the help and support of the hearts of many, this hospital continues and is able to keep its promise to their patients.
Most of St. Jude‘s focus is on the worst cases of childhood diseases. They do significant work treating children with sickle cell anemia. St. Jude is where the first person in the world was cured from this deadly disease.
Some of the featured performers at the event were The Violin Diva, Matthew Whitaker and Kathy Taylor. Every dollar raised went directly to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. This is an annual event held at Community Baptist Church of Englewood and locations across the country.
The St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital was created by the late Danny Thomas. It was part of a promise he made to St. Jude Thaddeus for helping him find his way in life. He wanted to build a hospital where children with childhood diseases could get excellent treatment and the families would not be burdened with the cost for doing such. His efforts continue to be triumphed through his daughter, Marlo Thomas, and her undying commitment to keep the legacy of her father alive and fulfill his dream that “no child should die in the dawn of life.”
